Kata Road

Kata Road is a glitzy corner of Phuket with bars, clubs and restaurants located near Kata Beach. It is a condensed string of entertainment venues. It is a safe haven for entertainment seekers in Phuket. A vibrant nightlife lies clustered along the Kata Road that runs parallel to the beach and has quite a few noisy and wild beer bars.

Distance from Patong Beach

Kata Road is located at a distance of approximately 11 kilometres from Patong Beach. It takes around 16 – 20 minutes to reach Kata Road from the Patong Beach via Route 4030.

How to Reach

You can reach Kata Road from Patong Beach by bus by spending 55 – 170 baht which is also the cheapest way to travel. Bus travel duration is from 50 minutes to an hour. Take a taxi that will cost you 320 – 400 baht to travel the same distance with 11 minutes journey. Kata Beach to Patong bus services is operated by Phuket Smart Bus and connects Kata Night Plaza station to Patong Station.

Thalang Road

Thalang Road is the historic heart of Old Phuket Town and is replete in an irresistible old-world charm. Here, you can still see the old Sino-Portuguese houses. Some of the shop-houses and mansions have got refurbished, repainted or entirely rebuilt over the years but still manage to withhold the ancient architectural charm. 

Distance from Patong Beach

Thalang Road is located at a distance of approximately 14 kilometres from Patong Beach. It takes approximately 40 minutes to reach Thalang Road, Phuket, from the Patong Beach via Route 4029.

How to Reach

The distance from Patong Beach to Thalang Road can be covered by bus by paying a bus fare of 100-170 baht and takes around 1 hour 20 minutes to reach the destination. A hired taxi takes just about 25 minutes to reach but is expensive, charging around 550 – 725 baht to cover the same distance. Driving down to the Thalang Road by rented two-wheeler or car is another option that can save a lot of time. Driving down will also take the same time like hired taxis. Rates for renting of bikes and cars depend on the type of bike and the time duration. Thalong Road can be enjoyed via a Guided Walking Tours to Old Phuket or in Phuket Day Tours.

Windmill Viewpoint

Windmill Viewpoint is located in south Phuket holidays between the beaches Ya Nui and Nai Harn. It is situated close to the Phromthep Cape and highlights tall, slim white windmills belonging to the Promthep Alternative Energy Station. This hilltop viewpoint offers views of Ya Nui Beach, Phromthep Cape, Nai Harn Beach and Koh Man. There is a covered sala with a sitting arrangement with occasional vendors. 

Distance from Patong Beach

The Windmill Viewpoint is located at a distance of around 20 kilometres from Patong Beach. It takes approximately 40 minutes to reach Windmill Viewpoint Phuket, from the Patong Beach via Route 4030.

How to reach

From Patong, Kata Beach is just about 11 kilometres and can be reached via bus or car or two-wheeler very comfortably and takes about 10 minutes. Then while coming from Kata Beach one needs to drive south past the famous Karon Viewpoint and keep going towards Nai Harn Beach. You need to proceed further in the direction of Prompthep Cape and soon after Nai Harn, you need to drive up a small hill past the lake to a sharp left curve. From there a narrow dirt road leads you to the Windmill Viewpoint, Phuket.

You can go around the viewpoints and the major tourist attractions nearby by rented vehicles or even book Customized Half Day City Tours that cover this serene and secluded Windmill Viewpoint. The Phuket Smart Bus facility is a very comfortable option and an affordable way to hop from beach to beach for a nominal fare. This mode of transport is very popular among the islanders and visitors to love to use this option.

Kao Khad Views Tower

Khao Khad Views Tower is also known as Panwa Viewpoint. It offers full 360-degree views of southern and eastern Phuket. It is spectacular and is located out at somewhat secluded Cape Panwa and is not as crowded as Cape Promthep or Big Buddha. The stairs are steep but the scenes are immensely rewarding.

Distance from Patong Beach

The Kao Khad Views Tower is located at a distance of around 20 kilometres from Patong Beach. It takes approximately 40 minutes to reach Kao Khad Views Tower, Phuket, from the Patong Beach via Route 4029. 

How to reach

From Patong beach, you can avail taxi service to Kao Khad Views Tower which takes about 40 minutes to reach and taxi rates, including waiting charges, varies from 1000 to 1200 baht. If you are driving down to Kao Khad Views Tower take the direction of the Phuket Aquarium in Cape Panwa until you see a sign on your right before reaching the aquarium or follow the signs to the Novotel Panwa and you will see the hoarding board to the viewpoint near the hotel pointing to a steep road.

Khao Rang

There are many good places in Phuket but Khao Rang Hill is one of the best and a very famous viewpoint of Phuket located in the northwest of the city centre and offers brilliant views of the town from the summit. You can see the landscape towards the south of the island, of the neighbouring islands and hills and also of Phuket Big Buddha. There is a landscaped park, children’s playground, restaurants, bars, fitness park and a panoramic terrace at the top.

Distance from Patong Beach

The Khao Rang Hill Viewpoint, Phuket, is located very close at a distance of around 13 kilometres from Patong Beach. It takes almost half an hour to reach the Khao Rang Hill, Phuket, from the Patong Beach via Routes 4029 and 4020. 

How to Reach

Khao Rang can be easily reached by taxi in about half an hour. There are no direct routes from Patong Beach to the Khao Rang Hill. If you happen to walk up to the Rang Hill, it has two main roads leading up one from Yaowarat Road by Vachira Hospital and the other from the east-west connecting Mae Luan Road.

If you climb up from the Soi Vachira, you can also enjoy the gorgeous Phuket’s first sitting Buddha, a large golden image located in Wat Khao Rang. The roads leading up are shady and cool similar to the crest of the hill. Reaching Khao Rang Hill via rented vehicles is also easy and comfortable and will take approximately 30 minutes to reach from Patong Beach.
