However, this technological leap is not without its challenges. The widespread adoption of AI surveillance raises critical concerns around privacy, data protection, and ethical governance. Facial recognition systems have been criticized for racial and gender bias, while the constant monitoring of public spaces has sparked debates about personal freedom and the threat of authoritarian overreach. In many countries, the use of AI surveillance tools outpaces the development of clear legal frameworks to regulate them, creating a grey area in terms of accountability and transparency.
